Vinmonopolet releases a list every year with tenders. They search for wines from specific areas with specified criteria, and all who produce this certain type of wine are welcome to submit their products to Vinmonopolet through their importer. For the first half of 2014 they are looking for twelve wines from Germany.

Release dates

The importers need to have the wines ready in Norway for delivery as close to the deadlines as possible. Contact your importer now to make appointments for delivery.
 

January release, Riesling Trocken from the Mosel 

The wine should be from the Mosel, a Prädikatswein or QBA trocken, single variety Riesling, Ortswein from Wiltingen, Saarburg, Brauneberg or Zeltingen. The spesifications given for the wine is that they seek a wine with complexity and concentration, from the 2012 vintage in the price range above NOK 175,00. This is described as a possible One-lot purchase.

March release, Spätburgunder, Grauburgunder and Pinot Noir

The Spätburgunder should be from the Pfalz, a Prädikatswein trocken or Qualitätswein trocken, Gutswein or Ortswein and be a single variety Spätburgunder. The wine is to have a maximum of 5 grams residual sugar per litre and be of vintage 2011 or 2012. It is to be bottled in a Burgundy-bottle and be from a vineyard with maximum  55 hl/ha. The release is a One-Lot Range of up to 1200 bottles, with a possibility of listing in the basic assortment. The price level is above NOK 225,00.

The Grauburgunder should be a single variety Grauburgunder from Baden, a Gutswein with grapes sourced from Kaiserstuhl. The wine is to have a maximum of 8 grams residual sugar a litre, be of vintage 2012 with minimum 3 months of lees aging. They seek a wine with concentration and mouthfeel with no, or discreet, oak influence, bottled with a screw cap. The release is a possible One-Lot purchase and the price level is above NOK 150,00.

The Pinot Noir should be from Baden, a Prädikatswein trocken or Qualitätswein trocken, Gutswein. It is to be a single variety Pinot Noir, and the name of the grape has to appear on the label. The wine is to have an aromatic quality and mouthfeel, have a maximum of 5 grams residual sugar per litre, bottled with a screw cap and of the vintage 2012. The release is a possible One-Lot purchase and the price level is above NOK 150,00.
 

May release, eight Rieslings

Mittelrhein Riesling.
Prädikatswein spätlese trocken or QBA trocken with minimum the equivalent oechsle level. A single variety Riesling from the vintage of 2012. The wine should have complexity and mouthfeel and be from a single vineyard. (has to appear on the label.) The release is a One-Lot Range of up to 360 bottles, with a possibility of listing in the basic assortment. The price level is above NOK 180,00.

Mosel Riesling.
Prädikatswein or QBA, Gutswein or Ortswein. Minimum 70% of the grapes should be sourced from Piesport, Brauneberg or Saarburg. It should have between 15 and 35 grams of residual sugar a litre and be from the vintage 2013. The release is a possible One-Lot purchase with a price level of above NOK 150,00.

Nahe Riesling.
Prädikatswein trocken or QBA trocken, Gutswein. 100% Riesling from vineyards with yields of maximum 60 hl/ha from the vintage 2013. The release is a possible One-Lot purchase with a price level of above NOK 150,00.

Nahe Riesling.
Prädikatswein trocken or QBA trocken, Ortswein from Traisen, Montzingen, Bockenau or Sclossböckelheim. 100% Riesling from the vintage 2013. The release is a possible One-Lot purchase with a price level of above NOK 200,00.

Pfaltz Riesling.
Prädikatswein spätlese trocken or QBA trocken with minimum the equivalent oechsle level according to spätlese. A single variety Riesling from the vintage of 2012. The wine should have complexity and concentration and be based on grapes selected from limestone, limestone marl, shist, terra rossa or muschelkalk (must appear on the label). The release is a possible One-Lot purchase with a price level of above NOK 190,00.

Rheingau Riesling.
Prädikatswein trocken or QBA trocken. A single variety Riesling from the vintage of 2012 or more recent. The wine should have complexity and concentration and be from a spesific soil (has to appear on the label.) The release is a possible One-Lot purchase with a price level of above NOK 165,00.

Rheinhessen Riesling.
QBA single variety Riesling from the vintage of 2013. The wine should have a maximum of 14 grams residual sugar a litre, have aromatic qualities and be bottled in PET. The release is a possible One-Lot purchase with a price level of above NOK 100,00.

Rheinhessen Riesling.
Prädikatswein trocken or QBA trocken (trocken must not appear on the packaging), Gutswein (need not be bottled on the wineproducers own property.) A single variety Riesling from the vintage of 2013, bottled in a 3 litre Bag in Box. The wine should have concentration and aromatic qualities. The release is a possible One-Lot purchase with a price level of above NOK 450,00.
